The City of Knowledge Annual Scholarship supports graduating high school seniors from the DFW Shia community as they prepare to apply and enter college in Fall 2026. This program hopes to honor students who are committed to deepening their Islamic faith throughout their pursuit for higher education. Through this initiative, City of Knowledge will encourage life-long learning: both Islamic and academic.

Scholarship Award

  • 3 students will be selected to receive scholarship awards of $500 each. The number of recipients may increase depending on availability of additional funding and at the discretion of the CFK scholarship administration team. Scholarship funds are intended solely for educational use, and students awarded will be required to provide proof of enrollment. The team will communicate with the institution to deposit the funds directly.

Eligibility

  • Student must be a senior in high school and incoming first-time college freshman for Fall 2026
  • Student must reside in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex with a verifiable address
  • Additional consideration may be given to applicants who have previously volunteered with City of Knowledge or applicants that can provide documentation of financial need.

Application Process: August 10th 2025 - September 10th 2025

Students must upload a video submission responding to one of the prompts below. The video must include the student in professional and appropriate Islamic attire and must be between 2 to 5 minutes long. An introduction at the beginning of the video is required.

  • How has Islamic knowledge shaped your personal goals or identity?
  • Describe a moment where your Islamic knowledge helped guide a difficult decision.
  • What Islamic values do you hope to embody most in college, and why?
  • What does being a Muslim college student mean to you?
  • Choose a surah and explain its meaning and how it applies to your everyday life.

Selection Criteria

Each application will be reviewed by Sheikh Mahdi Rastani. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the depth of the applicant's personal reflection.
